 Best laundry detergent ever! Aug 21, 2009
7th generstion detergent is the best I have ever used. I used tide before I switched to this. My clothes look better than they ever have and I can feel good about helping the earth since this product is non-toxic and eco-friendly.I have a newborn and it is perfect for washing her clothes and blankets too without having to worry about harsh chemicals!

I hate this product and I think it's a first for me to say this in an Amazon review. I hate it, absolutely hate it!
Now for the facts: I am not a big allergy sufferer, but I am sensitive to chemicals. This stuff smells like Oxyclean and irritates me every time I am close to it. The cloths itch me although I use little detergent and rinse twice. Today I checked the ingredients and the first ingredient is sodium carbonate, the same stuff as Oxyclean. The flowery smell is gone a few days after opening the box, so no worries of having an overpowering smell.
I am done with Seventh Generation laundry detergents. The liquid one is Sodium Laureate Sulfate and the powder one is not even a good cleaner and makes me itch. I think Seventh Generation is banking on the desire of having green products and not stepping up enough with good laundry detergents.
I will stick with using Persil although the price is a little steep.

Nice fragrance, great powder, designed for High Efficiency washers Feb 20, 2009
I am on the second batch of this laundry detergent because I love it. 5 stars for a pleasing and light fragrance, 5 stars for clothes coming out clean and fresh, and 5 stars for helping save the environment through high efficiency washing.
The Seventh Generation products have appealed to me because of their "biodegradability". That's not a real word, but it describes their line perfectly. From their paper towels, to toilet paper, to washing detergent, I feel pretty confident that I'm doing my part to make things better.
This detergent has a pleasing scent of Bergamot Citrus and White Flower. It's not overpowering, and my clothes come out smelling fresh, not like perfume. I have also noticed that if I leave the clothes in the wash for a while (sometimes I do forget) that they still come out smelling fresh and not mouldy.
This product also gets clothes clean in any temperature of water. If you want to save hot water, warm or tap cold will do just fine for your clothes with this powder.
I should also point out that this powder does not sud like normal powders, but it still gets your clothes completely clean.
Finally, this is high efficiency stuff. You're going to use a smaller amount of powder even for a large batch of clothes, and it's perfectly designed for front loading washers. This is where the "he" logo comes in. You'll see that on products that are specially designed for high efficiency washers, which includes most front loading models.
This product also comes in unscented for those who might prefer that, however, I think you'll enjoy how the bergamot citrus and white flower make your clothes, and your entire laundry room smell fresh.

I've been using this detergent now for about a year and it works just as good as regular detergent. I do use Biokleen for the pre-treatment, but as a detergent, Seventh Generation is great!
