The best steel-cut oats! Oct 14, 2009 Honeyville's Steel-Cut Oats are the best we've tried. It takes a while to cook them, if you do it the conventional way, but they are well worth it. I'm anxious to try the overnight microwave method. They have definitely become our favorite type of oatmeal. The price is not bad, even with the minimal shipping fee added on. I highly recommend these oats...you won't be sorry!

Honeyville vs McCann and Country Choice Sep 14, 2009 After trying McCanns and Country Choice steel cut oats, I opted to try Honeyville from Utah. The product arrived on time and the coffee sized tins were in good condition. As a small family consumer, I found Country Choice still the best value because of the cost per ounce and free shipping. Taste of McCann versus Country Choice were virtually identical. I found Honeyville to be second to McCann & Country Choice in taste and texture and I would not opt to purchase them again primarily because there was no advantage of cost per ounce over Country Choice, plus there was additional costs due to shipping charges. Overall, I would rank Honeyville a strong 4 Stars. Readers interested can see my separate reviews of McCann and Country Choice.
Honeyville came in a 3 lb. coffee size tin w/ plastic cover; McCann in either a elegant tin container with tin cover or cardboard box. One reader commented that Country Choice came in a cheap cardboard container and this was enough to significantly downgrade the product. Actually, irrespective of the type of container, to me, value (cost per ounce), the taste, texture, consistency, and overall appearance of the cooked steel cut oats are the most important criteria in my judgment. For example, many producers ship their steel cut oats in bulk packaging, either in a large paper or plastic bag and can be transferred to smaller containers at the receiving end.

overpriced and overrated Mar 28, 2009 Your steel cut oats are way overpriced not even organic. I can get organic steel cut
oats from any health food store in bulk in Los Angeles by Fedex for a fraction of your price or almost
anywhere in the country. A consumer can buy it organic for much less without the fancy designed can. And without the chemicals.

Good Buy? Yes, But.......... Oct 12, 2008 This is actually just a comment. I am an oatmeal lover, and am about to start slow-cooking them overnight on the recommendation of a friend. I know that the quality and taste reviews of McCann's and Honeyville are very similar, but the notion propagated by some that these are substantially cheaper is not correct. Here on Amazon, even without the auto-ship discount, the McCann's 4-pack is 22.38 cents/ounce [with free prime shipping], while the Honeyville is 22.54 [including shipping]. If you sign up for auto-ship, the price per ounce for McCann's drops to 19 cents per ounce. So, granted, Honeyville is the cheapest to buy for your first bowl by almost $10, but not in the long run.

a lazy way to healthy eating..... Oct 06, 2008 I'm not much for cooked oatmeal so I take a 1/4 cup of these oats with some of the Honeyville blueberries and a good dollop of low-fat yogurt. Into the fridge with this concoction, and the next morning the liquid from the yogurt softens the oatmeal a little (but not too much). Healthy breakfast - about 2 minutes of work.
